Last week was one of those weeks where things took shape and got done. I did a little project for my son, setting up an online store for his Custom Maps side gig, then I wrote a tutorial about how I did it. It got some great reviews and feedback. Thanks to everyone who said nice things (this is the fuel we need when we create).
I’m a person who has a hard time saying “no” to others, or even to myself. I’m a “can do” person who doesn’t back down from a challenge. That’s why I have a bunch of projects started, a bunch planned, and I seem to always have a new idea cooking…
BTW – in my work world, as a school administrator and teacher, this is always the case as well. So I come by it naturally. I also think that this is what makes me an ideal project manager 💡 .
To someone on the outside, without the full picture, this can seem a little “wishy-washy”.
This can also lead to some emotional ups and downs. I’m used to that, so I can identify when they occur and I adjust. Maybe take a day or two off or … (actually, that’s pretty much what I do every time 😉 ).
So this week, instead of a lesson or tutorial, I’m doing a bit of an inventory of projects to map out where each fits into my short-term (micro) and long-term (macro) goals.
Personal Site – TimBomboir.ca – I have this underway, in progress, and this will serve as my “hub” or place that I can update projects, and potentially lead future freelance jobs to my digital resume. This will always be a work in progress, and a testing place. I’m currently figuring out how to entice more subscribers from my home page.
Journal App – HappyAppy – This is an app I created to use with my Health classes, as a way to introduce journaling and teach positive wellness habits to my students. Mental health is imperative for them, and I want to help them focus on positive framing and happiness. This is what I feel is the best way to live a happy life.
I have plans to create a mini course that will show my skills, and help others (teachers and individuals) build an intro journal app for themselves or their class. This is in progress.
Hyper-Local Website – Hub City Life – This is my newest site. It’s a passion project for my favorite city, Saskatoon, Sk. The plan is to curate information including events and things to do, local business directory – then develop from there. Long term focus is to become a resource for local business and residents. This site also has a lot of features that could be showcased as possibilities for other businesses. I have plans to develop the systems to manage the site, then monetize in the future.
WordPress Services – Best Blog Setup – This service product is very much in the development phase. I have not shared it with anyone yet – my short-term goal is to finish the landing page, and service offers, hook up to a payment processor, and have it ready (hopefully within a week or 2).
Landing Page Templates – Easy Landing – This is a pivot project. My first intentions were to build clones of landing pages from some big sites online. I have recently decided to change course with this project. I am building templates, using curated resources about how to build effective landing pages. The templates will be built in Carrd, and available for easy purchase and implementation (with instructions for modification).
Digital Learning Platform – Online Skills Lab – This is my most neglected project to date – my plan is to create online courses and tutorials that will link back to my other website and projects. Definitely more to come on this one, stay tuned …
Writing this post has been a good exercise for me. I hope this help get insight into my plans, maybe some of these projects will provide service or benefit to you.
